W. L. Gore & Associates is a global materials science company focused on discovery, product innovation, and a commitment to improving lives.

As a part of the team at Bluecadet, we created a sprawling lobby experience for the company’s new Delaware location. Inspired by the classic film “Powers of 10,” we explored Gore’s significant reach - from outer space to inside the human body - over a cascading 13 screen stage.

Process

5 Stories Across 13 Screens

In a nutshell, the concept was to tell 5 stories that could be enjoyed individually or as a flowing narrative. Each Journey begins and ends in space. We start zoomed out at a different location on the globe, and then focus in, by a magnitude of 10. From life saving operations in Zurich to firefighters in Munich, each zoom in would uncover more of the impact of W.L. Gore’s incredible impact around the planet.

Trust the Process

Working and prototyping in over 8,000px is no easy task. It’s important to make sure footage is going to look good at scale - certain footage looks great on a computer screen but looks terrible when it’s towering over you.

Since the facility was still being built, we did not have access to the actual screens. We needed to get clever. We used a mixture of projections and building the facility in VR to prototype early on.
