Experiential motion design for screens, spaces & experiences.

I’m Nick Greenawalt, a freelance experiential motion designer creating projection mapping, interactive installations, large-scale digital content, and motion systems for agencies, studios, museums, and brands.

Motion for spaces, not just screens.

Experiential work has to do more than look good in a portfolio. It has to make sense in the space, survive the technical realities, and give people a reason to stop, look, touch, or play. I design the motion system around the audience, the environment, and the hardware it has to live on.

What I make

Projection mapping · Interactive installations · Large-scale screens and media walls · Branded experiential content · Motion systems and templates · Prototypes and previsualization

Selected experiential work

Franklin’s Spark

Projection mapping and experiential motion design that transformed the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial into an immersive story about curiosity.

Highmark Mann Center

A multi-year experiential program spanning a 5,000-square-foot LED history film, interactive exhibits, and the Mann Jukebox.

NBA Quick Hands

An interactive motion system built across 12 screens, 43 teams, and nearly 1,000 renders for the NBA Store at Mall of America.

Bloomberg Terminal

Interactive motion design created with Bluecadet to make the Bloomberg Terminal’s technology clear and engaging for visitors to Bloomberg’s London headquarters.

Powers of Ten

Experiential motion design that turns scale, science, and story into something people can feel in a physical space.

Concept through delivery

1. Find the idea

Start with the space, the audience, and the one thing the experience needs people to feel or understand.

2. Prototype early

Test scale, timing, interaction, and technical constraints before they become expensive surprises.

3. Build the system

Create a visual and motion language that can scale across screens, states, formats, and content.

4. Make it real

Design, animate, test, revise, and deliver production-ready assets that work in the actual environment.

Plug me in where you need me.

I can join an agency or studio team as a specialist, or help lead the motion side from concept through delivery. I’m based in Philadelphia, work with teams everywhere, and can collaborate remotely or on site when the project needs it.

A few things you might ask

What is experiential motion design?

Experiential motion design is animation created for physical spaces and interactive environments instead of just a single video frame. It can include projection mapping, museum exhibits, media walls, branded installations, and motion systems that respond to people or data.

Can you work with an agency or an existing production team?

Yes. I regularly plug into agency, studio, design, and development teams. I can own the motion work or collaborate within a larger creative and technical pipeline.

Do you create projection mapping and interactive installations?

Yes. I design and produce motion for projection mapping, interactive exhibits, multi-screen systems, and large-format digital experiences.

When should we bring you into a project?

Earlier is better. Bringing motion into the concept and prototyping phases helps the creative idea, technical system, and final content grow together—but I can also step into an established production when you need extra firepower.

Got a weird space, screen, or idea?
